The next chapter of the Mercedes-Benz B-Class story is soon to be written, as confirmed by these teaser pictures from Stuttgart. More than that we have technical details as well, just to whet that mama appetite. The B-Class is said to have the most new developments in one car in the history of Mercedes-Benz. It will be unveiled first at the Frankfurt International Motor Show, and then at the Johannesburg International Motor Show in October.
New B-Class is 4.36 metres long, 1.79m wide and 1.55m high, which makes it quite a substantial mid-sized mama car. Notably it is almost 5cm lower than its predecessor. Something called EASY-VARIO-PLUS system which enables some reorganisation of the interior for easy load packing. Other hi-tech stuff include blind spot assist, hill hold function and reversing camera among others. Actually a lot of the technologies found in the S-Class and E-Class will be installed in the new B-Class.
New four-cylinder engines are headed by the 115kW, 250Nm 1.6-litre turbo unit, and a 90kW, 200Nm version of the same engine. These are used by the B 180 and the B 200 respectively. In the diesel section sits a B 180 CDI and a B 200 CDI, both of which are rated at 80kW and 250Nm, as well as 100kW and 300Nm respectively. The engine in use there is a 1.8-litre unit.
Interestingly Mzansi received the A-Class before the B-Class, but this time it seems things will change the other way around.
